How to Unzip Files - Simple Instructions for Windows, Mac OS, and Mobile Devices

UNZIPPING ON A LAPTOP / DESKTOP:

On Windows:

  1. Locate the zipped file that you want to unzip.
  2. Right-click on the file and select "Extract All" from the dropdown menu.
  3. Choose a location to save the unzipped files to.
  4. Click "Extract" and wait for the process to complete.
  5. The unzipped files should now be available in the location you chose.

On Mac OS:

  1. Locate the zipped file that you want to unzip.
  2. Double-click on the file to open it.
  3. A new window should appear containing the zipped files.
  4. Click the "Extract" button at the top of the window.
  5. Choose a location to save the unzipped files to.
  6. Click "Extract" and wait for the process to complete.
  7. The unzipped files should now be available in the location you chose.

Note: Some computers may have a built-in utility to unzip files, but if you have trouble unzipping files on your computer, you can download a free file archiver tool such as 7-Zip, WinZip or StuffIt Expander.

UNZIPPING ON A MOBILE DEVICE:

On Android:

  1. Download and install a file manager app that supports zip files, such as Files by Google.
  2. Find the zipped file that you want to unzip and tap on it.
  3. You should see an option to "Extract" or "Unzip" the file. Tap on this option.
  4. Choose a location to save the unzipped files to.
  5. Tap "Extract" and wait for the process to complete.
  6. The unzipped files should now be available in the location you chose.

On iOS:

  1. Download and install a file manager app that supports zip files, such as iZip or Files.
  2. Find the zipped file that you want to unzip and tap on it.
  3. You should see an option to "Open In" or "Share" the file. Tap on this option.
  4. Choose the file manager app you downloaded from the list of available apps.
  5. Choose a location to save the unzipped files to.
  6. Tap "Extract" and wait for the process to complete.
  7. The unzipped files should now be available in the location you chose.

Note: Not all mobile devices have built-in support for unzipping files, so it may be necessary to download a separate app for this purpose.
